As social beings, humans recognize the advantages of cooperation and so there will always be a pattern in society that will be chosen as the means for advancing civilization. The pattern that will best serve as the means to that end will be untainted by the desire for power. In other words any ego-driven alternative means will be readily recognized as corrupt and quickly discarded.
One word that can be used to describe 'a pattern in society' is 'government' although in the future it will not resemble what is familiar to us or what it looks like now in these Dark Ages of economics.
